ROYAL
PAPYRUS
PROJECTS
The ” Turin King List” or “Royal Papyrus“, one of the most important manuscripts within the Turin collection, was acquired by Consul Bernardino Drovetti around 1820.
The project, funded thanks to the generous support of Gli Scarabei, presents the new reconstruction of the document prepared by Kim Ryholt, professor of Egyptology at the University of Copenhagen, who has devoted the past 20 years to the study of the Royal Canon.
Thanks to his work, it is possible to relocate some of the fragments that have been preserved separately until now, as well as to make some changes to the placement of the fragments already placed.
RESTORATION PAPYRUS OF THE KINGS
In 2022, on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the decipherment of the hieroglyphs, the papyrus was completely restored.
The restoration and repositioning of the fragments was carried out by papyrus restorer Myriam Krutzsch who, with more than 45 years of experience in papyrus restoration, is in charge of papyrus restoration at the Egyptian Museum and Papyrus Collection of Berlin.
